The Kentucky Derby Draw is on ESPN at 4PM Central Time this afternoon.  With a 20 horse field, the draw is hugely important.  It's very difficult for any horse between the 1-3 and 17-20 gates to win the Derby.  They either have too much ground to cover ( from the outside gates ) or get bottled up on the rail ( from the inside gates ).

Only 29% of the Derby winners over the last 35 years have come from the inner most three gates or outer most three gates.
